Rewrite the Ending-hoilday reading

Rewrite the Ending

If you could rewrite the ending of the story what would happen?  Write a paragraph explaining what you think should have happened.
Post it onto your blog with the following information.
- Title - Why is this night different from all the other nights?
- Author - Lemony Snicket
- Type of Book - Fiction - Mystery
My ending to the story is that Lemony Snicket and his associates tricked Hangfire (their enemy) and reported him to the authorities. There he went to jail and would never bother Stain’d by the sea again. While they were there they also cleared Theodora’s name and saved Lemony’s sister and everyone else Hangfire tricked.
- Why your ending is better
My ending is better because not only is it a happy ending but Stain’d by the sea is saved and will be in no more trouble. Also Lemony and his friends rescued other friends that Hangfire tricked.

Holiday reading-lost letters

Retell
(in 25 words or less)

The trick with retelling a story is keeping it to the main points.  In this case you only have 25 words so make them count! Post your recount onto your blog with a comment that tells you:
- Title - The Lost Letters
- Author - Thea Stilton
- Type of Book - Fiction - Adventure, Mystery and Suspense
- Retell - The Thea Sisters and her new friends investigate a stolen ring. They help their friend clear her name and hopefully win an ice skating competition.

Making butter Y5's.

Yesterday we made butter out of double cream. We put double cream into a jar and shook it until yellow lumps were formed. Then we spread the butter on bread and enjoyed it. I had lots of fun doing this experiment.

Making Elephant Toothpaste

Making Elephant Toothpaste

On Wednesday afternoon LS1 and Room 5 did an experiment called ‘Elephant Toothpaste’. Two ladies from Edgewater College came and instructed us through the experiment. It was very exciting as we walked to the field. We saw a table with chemicals and a tall cylinder. The two ladies were wearing a large white coat and clear safety glasses. They both introduced themselves and started talking about our experiment. She talked about Chemical reactions, that can’t be reversed and Physical reactions that can be reversed. We had to find out whether the ‘Elephant Toothpaste’ would be reversible or non reversible. She called two volunteers Viva, and Troy. The lady put 100 milliliters of Hydrogen Peroxide in the cylinder. Then Viva put a large squirt of detergent in with the Hydrogen Peroxide. Then we all counted from 5 to 1 as Troy put one teaspoon of Potassium Iodide in the mixture. The color changed into a dark orange. On the top was foam that raised slowly to the top and came out of the sides of the cylinder. It made a huge pile of foam surrounding the cylinder. We were all amazed as our eyes stared at the reaction. We discussed about if it was a chemical reaction or a physical reaction. We all agreed that it was a chemical reaction that couldn’t be reversed. We were going to try it again with a plastic bottle. The lady again asked for another two volunteers, Vance and Alice. Again, the lady poured the same measurement of Hydrogen Peroxide then Vance added the detergent. We counted down from 5 as Alice added the Potassium Iodide. The color was a normal orange and the foam went out of the bottle faster than the cylinder. It shot out of the bottle then went back down making a pile of foam around the bottle. We were more amazed than doing the experiment in the cylinder. When we were sent back we all talked about the elephant toothpaste. We all had an entertaining time during the experiment.

Reflecting on my Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein themed .

Reflecting on my Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein themed portrait

DSC09654.JPG

1. Are you pleased with your Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein themed portrait? why / why not?
I am really pleased with my Artwork because I really love the colours I haved used for my artworks.

2. What did you find easy when you created your Pop Art portrait? I found it easy when I was colouring my Roy Lichtenstein self portrait.

3. What part did you find tricky when you were creating your portrait? -think about tracing round your face, outlining your face using a black marker pen, dabbing areas using the dye, dying the background, dotting your areas, colouring block areas and lettering.
Tracing round my face was hard.

4. Who / What helped you when you were creating your Pop Art portrait?
My friends Angari savelina and my teacher miss payton.

5. What would you do differently next time? Think about: tracing around your face, features on your face, dabbing the dye colours, colour choice, photograph, time management skills, dotting your paper, colouring in block areas, lettering.
Next time I would undo my pony tail and have my hair out so that it looks natural.

6. What frustrated you when you created your Andy Warhol  and Roy Lichtenstein themed art work?
The Andy Warhol themed artwork frustrated me when it came to dying the background. I had to be careful not to smudge other areas. The Roy Lichtenstein frustrated me when it came to doing the dots. I had fun and I hope that I could do this some other time.
