Reading Challenge/Tashi and the Mixed up monster/Your Choice

This week I have chosen a book Called Tashi and the giants. This book is about a boy named Tashi one day he went to so and find Jack to tell him about a story that talked about how Chintu the giant who is as big as a mountain wanted Tashi as well as robber bandits who wanted to kidnap him to be their son. Chintu went to the village and called out for Tashi. Tashi's father came out and refused to let him go. Then he kidnap Tashi. Tashi mange to escape and found a room where Mrs Chintu he help her get out of a cage. He climbed up the stool grab the key and they gave to her to unlock the cage. She then walked to the kitchen garbed Chintu by the head and said that Tashi would pick who made the best dumping. He then mange to escape and found a number of people arguing what to do. He came back and he was safe at last.

Reading Challenge/Short Book/ The Big Sleepover

This week I have read Ella and Olivia The big sleepover. This book is about sisters name Ella and Olivia they have a brother named Max and a dog. One day Ella wants to have a sleepover mom and dad let her. She invites her best friend Zoe to join her. Ella set up the sleepover by planing. She had gotten some sleeping bags for the sleep over as well as some snacks. When Zoe comes over they tell a story. But then Olivia feels alone and wants to join but Ella doesn't want her she says big girls only. I think that this is a short story but it is so interesting and I can relate.

Reading Challenge/Lest We Forget/Sophisticated Picture book.

This week I have chosen a sophisticated picture book. This book is called Lest we forget this book is about a boy named Tyson war hates war. After looking at some picture they went to the kitchen to sit down and talk about the bravery of his grandpa and his great grandpa sadly his great grandpa died in war world 1. There was a parade celebrating that war had ended Tyson didn't want to go but sooner or later he woke up at 4:30 am to get ready he told his mother he still hated war but he wanted to go for his grandpa as he lost 2 legs in the war.

Kiwi Can

                        

This week we went to Kiwi can. Today we were learning about different tones of voices. What are the different tones of voices. There can be a happy,sad and angry tone of voice. Its important that the different tone of voice we give people do not a affect them in a bad way. When then did a recap of what we talked about last week. We talked about active listening what it is and where we can show it. Active listening means listening and we can show this in class or at home. When then played our Energizer called Fruit salad. What we needed to do was Mrs Paige gave each fruit an action and if you do the action right we stay standing if we do the wrong action we sit down. Then we did an activity which was called Negative and Positive role play. What we needed to do was act out a scenario that Mrs Paige gave us in a negative way and how we could change that in a positive way.

LS2 Reading challenge/Comic book/Ghost


This week I have done a Reading Challenge. The topic I have picked is called Comic Book. Here is a book I have chosen to talk about because its really interesting and the images are well drawn.This book is about a girl named Catrina she is moving to the north of California because of her sister sickness. Once she is there she meets a boy who believes in ghosts. Her parents talked to her and her sister about a celebration about ghosts and lost loved ones it is called Day of the dead. Her sister can't go because she is sick but she wants Catrina to go to meet there grandma that has passed away. 

LS2 Reading challenge/Mystery/Amulet

This week I have chosen to do a book based on mystery. What I needed to do was pick a book based on the topic and then explain what the story is about. This book is about a girl named Emily. She has currently lost her father and has a hard time. They move to a place where their great-grandfather used to live. When she was cleaning she found a stone. This stone was one of a kind. One day her mother is taken by a creature.The stone made her travel to her great-grandfather.Once she meet him she has to make a decision to leave the stones or choose its path to guide herself to save her mom and into a life that saves the world. I have chosen this book because they creatures and the land is so mystery.

3d Drawing

Tech today was great. We were looking at 3d shapes as our clocks will be 3d.The skills that I learnt in this lesson are different tones,drawing 3d and shading.The first thing that you do is get a piece of paper then you draw a 3d square. You needed to draw a flat square then draw another square near a corner going outwards. Then join the corners and then you have a 3d square. If you want to do shading then pick a colour I picked purple then you needed to colour lightly on the top,in the front medium and on the side dark.I really like the way I have shaded my shape as it look like the light is shining on it. This was really fun and it was cool to learn fast ways to create 3d shapes.

Kiwi Can





This week we went to our second Kiwi Can session for Term 1. Our New Kiwi Can Leaders are  Mr Alipati and Mrs Paige.Our topic for this term was Positive Relationships. Today we learning about Positive Communication. The first thing we did was talked about active listening what it is and where we can show it. Active listening means listening and we can show this in class or at home. We then play an activty called Cop suey salute. There were 5 actions when ever Mr Alipati called a number we needed to do the action that was given for each number. We also played a challenge called remote control if he said stop we needed to spot if he said slow motion we needed to walk slow if he said play we needed to walk normal if he said reverse we needed to walk backwards if he said fast forward we needed to walk fast. If he said a different word for example jump and we were on pause we would be out.

Summer Learning Journey


Today Hazel and Sophie form the Summer Learning Journey came to our school to present the prizes and certificates to people who participated in the Summer Learning Journey program. Summer Learning Journey is a program that gives you activity's to do over the summer that will help your learning.  We also had Evelyn form NZ sailing trust. Hazel and Sophie also showed us a presentation that had a record of the learning we were doing. Everyone participated did a lot of blog post and all together there was 1275 blog post from PBS there was also 2376 comments from PBS.There were spot prizes and the winner for that was Sakin,Leon,Chris,Sulia,Marieta,Florence and Chavda. The winners for the hole competitions was Alex who came 1st Mele who came  2nd and Victoria who came thrid. A got an certificate even though I didn't win I am still proud of the amount of work I have done.

Kiwi Sport

This week we watch a video about Ki o rahi. Then we went outside to play a game the first game was called Taniwha and Qeunoi. If our coach said Taniwha Qeunoi needed to tag them and if coach said Qeunoi Taniwha had to tag them. We then play another game called 8 passes we needed to pass the ball eight times with our teammates. Then we play the last game what we needed to do was get into our team and when coach said a number for example 5.5 people form each team needed to go around the hoop and then coach would say a sport for example netball. So then the 5 people from each team needed to play netball.

Types of Clock


This week was our first Lesson for clocks with Mrs Ferguson. I have made a DLO that shows different clocks. We did so we can learn about the different clock and pick which design for the clock that I was making. I am making an Character Clock. The design is Mickey Mouse. We have also created a google doc with some question to help us think about the design we are going to make and how we are going to make it. I am making mine for my dad as he is a hard worker.

Kiwi Can

This week we went to our first Kiwi Can for Term 1. Our New Kiwi Can Leaders are
 Mr Alipait and Mrs Paige.Our topic for this term was Positive Relationships. Today we learning about Positive Communication. We first played our energizer which was called Eyes up Eyes down. What we needed to do was get into a circle and when Mr Alipati said Eyes down we looked down and when he said Eyes up we needed to look at a person if the person look at you too then you were out. We then talked about some ground rules for kiwi to keep people safe. We then went outside for an Activity called Partner tag I needed to communicate with my partner. The person in the front had to tag the person in the back that was holding on to the front person.

Explanation Sketchnote



This week me and my partner created a digital sketchnote about what
an explanation means and the different parts of it. We first planned it on a
piece of paper. We’ve learnt that an explanation explains how or why
something is the way it is. The structure of an explanation is Title, Introduction,
Information and Conclusion. I think this will help me and my partner as a
recap for our writing assessment.

Te Tiriti o Wiatangi



This week I created a DLO about Waitangi. I worked with Avalon, Sandra and Jayden. We needed to create three summaries about each part of the story. The story was about the Treaty of Waitangi. Maori Chiefs wanted a treaty with the British because pakeha settlers were taking their land and not following any laws. On 6th February 1840 the treaty between Maori and pakeha was signed at Waitangi. When the treaty was signed at Waitangi it meant that The Maori Chiefs agreed to give the Queen of England sovereignty over New Zealand. After the Treaty was signed by the Maori the British people encouraged the Maori to sell their land because more and more Pakeha were coming to New Zealand. Many of them wanted land so there was often conflict about the sales. We also defined important words and wrote about the differences between the Maori's point of view and the Pakeha's.

E-ako


This week I needed to do e-ako. This is a screenshot of one of the task I have done I needed to put in the write answer to be able to move a frog. This was really helpful as if made me get use to doing it faster. Problem Soving is somthing that I needed to work on and E-ako is just the right thing to help me. We needed to time our self.

How To Show That You’re A Leader


 This week we created a DLO about how you can become a leader. Some of the drawings were created by Jack and Jayden. I created a slide which explained a person who I thought was a leader I picked Martin Luther King Jr. I think that Martin Luther King Jr is a leader because as people know he became the most spokesperson and leaded in the Civil rights movement. Martin Luther King was also an american minster. One thing he always said Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that. I have also drawn a picture of him.

Teamwork Sketchnote


L.I to define teamwork by creating a sketchnote.

Today as a group we have created a sketchnote to define what teamworks means. We have came up with
5 ideas that define teamwork. I worked with Giovanni, Jack, Julian, Chavda & Nidhi. As a team we
completed this activity. We first explained our ideas with each other to pick the best. The character
that was on the DLO was Clarence I created it in one of my drawing tasks.

Care Values



Today was our first day back a school. This year, our class is made up of year sevens and year eights, and we have a few new faces to complete the class. We have been set up into groups that we will work in for the year, and the groups consist of a mix of pupils from each gender, and each year. For this activity, we needed to in our groups, think of what each of our School CARE values mean, and how they can be shown. Once thought of, we would write our answers on a template sheet of paper, and share our answers with the class. Finally, we would create a Google Presentation that would show all of our answers, and a picture of us doing exactly that. I worked with Angela and a new girl to our class named Nidhi, and we all had a lot of fun.
