Kiwi Can

This week we had another session of Kiwi Can. Our topic was Self Control. We need to  think about the things that distract us in our everyday life. Technology has been a must used item everyday people check social media,Notification and more. We not only get distracted by technology but we also get distracted by our friends. Sometimes people just don't understand the work and tend to play around which means we would need to help them. After this we talked about how we can help our selves from getting distracted. LS2 thought that we could move away and ask a person nicely to be quiet. Today we did two activity the first activity was when we had to tap our hands the same way as the person next to us to succeed we needed to focus. The next activity we needed to been in a group of 5 people

Explanation: Should New Zealand ban plastic straws?

Why are we banning straws? What is it harming? Why Straws? So many questions pop into our heads when someone says “banning plastic straws”. The most important question is why are we saving our Marine animal as well as our earth. Earlier this year {2019} people of New Zealand have been trying to ban plastic bags yet still more plastic is flying, breaking down and polluting in our world. Would you save our sea animals? When people use plastic straws they are really being careless about their actions.

Have you ever thought about half of the world being a dumping waste. No so why are you trying to create one. Our world can be sacred to all people, a place called home, a place people created history, memories and love. If we don’t ban plastic straws we could be endangering our sea animals. Turtles could be harmed by having a straw pushed into their nostrils. If we stop using plastic straws then this can give marine animals a chance to breed which increases sea life. Thousands of animals experience the pain of having a single plastic straw in their system, stopping their ability to digest and more.

Plastic straws could cause pollution and harm our ocean. Did you know that according to google. about 65,000 straws have been found on our New Zealand beaches. Banning plastic straws will decrease the amount of straws over the years which gives our sea animals a chance to live their lives. Also, metal straws are currently being sold around the world and this means you can reuse them for quite a long time, meaning you don’t harm the environment as much.

We have tried to make our world a better place by banning plastic bags yet we are forgetting about these harmful straws. Yes drinking our delicious drink with a straw would make our life easy but think about the world, people and animals I’m pretty sure we are all capable of drinking without a plastic straw. Doing some research I found out that according to national geographics “In a cringe-inducing video that's gone viral, a team of scientists spent nearly ten minutes pulling a plastic straw from the nostrils of an olive ridley sea turtle”

Why are we banning straws? What is it harming? Why Straws? So many questions pop into our heads when someone says banning plastic straws. Remember The most important question is why we are saying our Marine animal as well as our earth. Earlier this year {2019} people of New Zealand have been trying to ban plastic bags yet still more plastic is flying, breaking down and polluting in our world. Would you save our sea animals?

Aesop Fables

This week is Book week and to embrace it we have picked one of Aesops fables and created a comic strip retelling the story. We needed to include the moral of the story. The moral of the story is that Betray a friend, an you’ll often find you have ruined yourself.Aesop is a famous storyteller who was slaved for over 45 years. He then earned his freedom by telling stories and served as an advisor for a king. A fact about Aesop is that he never wrote down his fables he only memorised them. He went to Delphi on a diplomatic mission from King Croesus of Lydia, that he insulted the Delphians, and was sentenced to death because of temple theft, and was thrown from a cliff. It is believed that Aesop was born around 600 BC and to have died around 560 BC. Most of his fables were about animals.
