Day 4 - Activity 3 - Picture Perfect - Week 2

What I can see is a lady posing on a building. The background looks like a village. She must have been feeling scared as the building might have been tall. I can see that the background has a lot of boats. I think she is in Australia because there is an national boat day. It looks like she might fall back. The village looks very old. I notices that there is a bridge in the background and it looks like the Gladesville Bridge. I researched and I found out that National boat day is to encourage Australians to celebrate boats. I can see lots of trees that it looks like a forest.

This week I needed to choose one of the following three selfies. From left to right.then I needed to write a short story about what I thought was happening in the picture. I also needed to inculcated where they were at and needed to write it in 8 to 10 sentences for full points.

This week I needed to list three to five options for the name of this geothermal pool. I needed to put a star at the end for what I thought was good enough. I really liked the thrid one becuase the name had what it had in the picture the forest was for all the large and many tress and bushs. and Watery was for all the water that was in the pool.

Day 4 - Activity 1 - Planes, Trains and Automobiles - Week 2

This week I was to choose an option to take to Milford Sound. I was to choose an option between taking a walk around the area, taking a boat cruise, or a helicopter that flies above. I prefer taking a boat cruise it gives you really nice views and it a great place to relax near the water. I enjoy swimming and they have lots of swimming activity so that would be fun. If the weather is nice and windy then I would walk to exercise and to explore more about whats around it.

Day 3 - Activity 3 - The Midnight Zone - Week 2

This week  I needed to Solve a math problem. The math problem was A colossal squid can weigh as much as 495 kilograms (kg) the average adult can lift 25 kg and the average child can lift 15 kg. How many adults and children will it take to move the giant squid into its new room at Te Papa? This answer that I have came up with is it takes 21 children and 8 adults. Here is my answer in numbers

315+25+25+25+25+20+20+20+20+= 495. A colossal squid can be found Deep in the ocean, far below the surface.

Day 3 - Activity 2 - A Local Delicacy - Week 2

SAPASUI

• 250 grams vermicelli
• 3 tablespoons peanut oil
• 2 tablespoons ginger, minced
• 2 tablespoons garlic, minced
• 400 grams chicken thigh, diced
• 2/3 cup soy sauce
• 1 tablespoon sugar
• Pepper to taste

1. Soak vermicelli for 15 minutes in boiling water, then drain the noodles and reserve a bit of the liquid (you can prep the next steps while it’s soaking). Cut smaller with scissors.

2. Heat oil in pot, add ginger and garlic, when lightly browned add chicken and cook for four minutes.

3. Add noodles, and stir fry quickly.

4. Add soy sauce, sugar and pepper, and stir to combine. Add some of the liquid drained from the vermicelli if the sapasui is a bit dry

This week I needed to share a list of the ingredients that you need to make my favorite food. I didn't know the exactly ingredients so I got help from my mom. I really like this food because I like the meat in it and it goes well with rice. Sapasui is a Samoa traditional food they is often severed in big events.

Day 3 - Activity 1 - Night Owls - Week 2

This week I needed to tell others whether I was a night owl or a early riser. Then I asked the rest of my family what they would like to be. I would like to be a night owl because I always sleep late and wake up at 11:00 in the morning on weekends this means that an early riser is not for me because I am not a morning person and I don't wake up early. My 3 brothers would like to be a night owl because they always stay up at night and play games. I would call my parents early riser because they wake up really early to do me and my brothers lunchies. My dad wakes up at 5 : 30 to get ready for work and my mom wakes up at 6:00.

Day 2 - Activity 3 - Stranger than Fiction - Week 2

This week I needed to list three similarities and three differences between the two plants. The tow plants are a White Baneberry and a Hydnellum Peckii. 3 simulates: They both have the same color pink. They can be found in north america and can be eaten. 3 differences: Hydnellum Peckii is an fungs that produces blood. The White Baneberry is toxic. The color of fluids on Hydnellum peckii can be varied as orange or pink.

Day 2 - Activity 2 - Mighty Mangroves - Week 2

This week I needed to blog and talk about a person I really known. My person is Avalon. We have been best friend we were little and we love to do things together. Avalon is a nice person she helps other people and makes me laugh. She always tries to participated in outside school activity. She also shows the schools care value and always supported me when I needed it.

Day 2 - Activity 1 - Weaving a Tall Tale - Week 2

This week I needed to deiced if I wanted to try out flax weaving. I have actually tried his before in the island we make these to keep our food fresh. I have also seen people make bags out of them. I would like to learn more skills. Something hard I found doing this is folding because it always went different angels.

This week I needed to write out each fact and in CAPITAL LETTERS beside the fact, write the word ‘TRUE’ if it is a true fact or ‘FALSE’ if it is not true. To help me i did some researched and came up with these answers.

Day 1 - Activty 2 - Week 2 - The Great Taupo Cycle Challenge

1. Brother - I would pick my brother Katopau because he really likes cycles and he can get some greats tips or even some advice.

2.  Dad - I would pick my dad because he is really enthusiastic when it comes to competencies.

3. Brother - I would like to pick my brother Faitele because he is very loud and confident so he would be a great supporter.

This week I needed to list three people that I would pick to have on my Lake Taupo Cycle Race support crew. I picked most of the boys in my family because they really enjoy these types of things. When I was doing this activity my dad told me that It is the largest lake in all of New Zealand it was really fascinating as I did not know this.

Day 1 - Activity 1 - Surfs Up - Week 2

For this activty I needed to talk about my favoutive thing to doing in the summer. What I like to do is swiming here is an image of me and my couzins enjoying a swim. We went to a resort in Samoa called saletoga. My Papa booked us 2 houses to stay in each house cost 400 a night luckily we were staying for one night so the money we needed to pay was 800. The first thing we needed to do was unpack.Then we changed into our swimming clothes and went swimming in the pools. After a lot of swims it was getting dark and we needed to get change. After we got changed we went to the restaurant to order some food I got my cousin to order me some food and bring it to me because I needed to stay at the house to look after my mom that got sick from the salt water. Then we went back to our houses 1 house was for the girls and the other was for the boys. I stayed up just in case my mom needed water or something to drink. The next day we all go packed and left our bags in the girls room and went to the restaurant to eat breakfest.After we packed our bag in the cars and went back home.

Day 5 - Activity 3 - Going, going….gone

This week I needed On your blog, post a description of life in New Zealand in 2018. I could also post pictures But I needed to be sure to fully attribute the pictures. New Zealand is a great place people can go to landmarks and have fun. A popular landmark is sky city. This is a photo of the sky tower there is a lot of building sounding it.

Day 5 - Activity 2 - Living on the edge

Dear Dad I just went to tundra it was so cool. The mountains were really big. I met a friend along the way. It is a snowy owl. It's Scientific name is Bubo scandiacus. I met some other animals too. Tundra can get a little chilly and often gets hot too.  This week On my blog, I needed to write a letter to my best friend or a family member telling them about my trip to the tundra. To earn full points your letter must have a greeting (eg. Dear…) followed by 5 – 6 sentences of information about what your experience.

Day 5 - Activity 1 - Towering Timbers

This week I needed to create a blog post and tell you whether you think logging should be allowed in New Zealand. I think that Logging should be allowed in New Zealand as we can grow new plants. I also think that logging should be allowed in New Zealand as it help loggers create more money. The images shows that a lot of trees have been cut down.

Day 4 - Activity 3 - Salt and Pepper

This week I needed to explain where would I built my hotel and what will I use. For 5 extra Points I needed to draw my own hotel. I would build by hotel in the islands because I would want to go outside a lot I would use wood to build by hotel. This is a drawing of my hotel.

Day 4 - Activity 2 - Pancakes and Maple Syrup?

Ingredients-

Lemon

Coconut Cream(Me and My family use the Kara brand)

Salt

Cucumber,Tomato,Spring Onion

1. Cut Raw Fish into cubes
2. Add them to a bowl
3. Cut Cucumber,Tomato and spring onion
4. Add them to the same bowl that has the Raw Fish cubes
5. In a cup mix lemon and water add a little bit of water as we want for lemon flavor
6. Then in another bowl mix the Lemon that was made previously and mix it with Coconut Cream
7. Add salt
8. Then add the Coconut Cream and lemon and  into the bowl that has cucumber,tomato and spring onion 
9. Let it chill in the fridge for an 1 hour
10. Serve and Enjoy

For this activity I am asked to choose one of my favourite foods. On my blog, I need to write the name of your favourite food and then tell us how to make it. You may need to ask a family member, friend or Google (!) for help, if you do not normally make this food for yourself. My favorite food is oka. Oka is a Samoan traditional food that is mainly eaten on Sundays. It is mainly eaten on Sunday because it is a Samoan traditional church food that is served.

This week I needed to post five questions that I would like to ask Sir Edmund Hillary about his life.Aotearoa New Zealand is a country of mountains and valleys, dense forests, and sparkling oceans. At the centre of the South Island sits the tallest mountain in the country, Aoraki Mt Cook. It is the place where Sir Edmund Hillary, the first man to reach the top (summit) of Mt Everest, learned how to climb mountains. It was pretty difficult for him, at first, but Sir Edmund Hillary did not give up and, in 1953, he achieved this dream of climbing Mt Everest. His face can now be found on the New Zealand $5 note!

Day 3 - Activity 3 - The WWF: World Wildlife Fund

This week I needed to watch a video about WWF also known as World Wildlife Fund. After I watched the video I needed to answer some questions. In 1961, a number of people came together to start an organisation called the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). The main goal of this organisation was/is to protect life on earth. Hundreds of WWF staff work in countries all over the world trying to protect our planet and the animals who live here. This week I needed to list three pros (good things) and three cons (bad things) about working as a DOC ranger. I would not like to be a DOC ranger because it seems very hard and that you can get sick which might lead to spending a lot of times off work or quiting. Would you like to be a DOC ranger.

Day 3 - Activity 1 - Fantastic Beasts

For this activity, I needed to watch this cool book trailer. Year 7 and Year 8 students in South Auckland, New Zealand helped to make it. Once I have watched the video, I needed to use my imagination and create my very own beast. What does my beast look, smell, feel, and sound like? My created beast looks like a werewolf that it smells like rotten fish it feels soft and it's voice sounds like thunder. I drawled this using google drive tools.

Day 2 - Activity 3 - Weird and Wonder

This week I needed to Explain how to solve the maths problem. I can write my answer in words, use a Sketchpad image, or post a video explaining how you would figure it out. I needed to Be sure to give my final answer in millilitres (ml).

Let’s imagine that you are given a cactus for your birthday. To keep it alive, you must give it 3 ml of water every day. Over one full year, how much water will you need to give your cactus plant? You water your cactus 1095 times every day. I did this by multiplying 3 and 365. 365 is how many days in a year.

Day 2 - Activity 2 - Fabulous Ferns

This week I needed to blog and list three sports teams that have the word ‘fern’ in their title. Beside each team’s name, post a picture of their uniform. Then, at the bottom of your blog post tell us which of the three uniforms you like best and why. I like the Sliver Fern uniform because the colors suit and the design is different form other netball teams and that the have inculed the sliver fern.

Day 2 - Activity 1 - Forest Life

This week I needed to deiced if i wanted to see Tane Mauta. This is a of Tane Mauta. I would like to visit him becuase this is apart of a Maori Legend. This is the words most longest tree. I known that Tane Mauta was the father of the earth, and the mother of the earth hineahuone. The kids did not like there mother show they pushed Tane Mauta to the sky and left there mother with them.

Day 1 - Activity 2 - North and South

What is special about my town? The special thing about my town is that we always have a positive adttuite and help others. We often have celebrations. Everyone joins in and we all have fun. The library is a magically place because it teaches you education an it has fun activity for you.
This week we needed to answer a Question. The Question was what us special about your town. I talked abut some things that go own in our town and why it is special. I have also a image of my town. My favorite part about my town is the mountain.

Day 1 - Activty 1-The Legend of New Zealand

1. The Maori name of New Zealand is Aotearoa which means the land of the long white cloud.

2. New Zealanders are also called kiwis but kiwi is not a fruit. It is New Zealand’s native flightless bird.

I have picked my top three facts that I found interesting about New Zealand. I went on a site that was provide my summer learning journey which was Tourism NZ website.

City of Sails-Richard Pearse

This week we have created a comic strip about what Richard Pearse invented. Richard Pearse invented the first aircraft. In my group I had Brooklyn,Savelina,Joshua and Avalon. We have created a comic strip that shows a drawing of him testing his air crafted. We also needed to find some information about Richard Pearse. I found out that he died on the 29 July in Christchurch. We used our google drawing schools to create the characters,farm and the aircraft. I also learnt that it took 1 year to build the aircraft. This is one the City of sails activity.

City of Sails Challenge - Auckland Sites

This week we have been looking around a cool topic. It is City of sails. Mrs Kirkpatrick has created a blooms matrix with gives you activity to do that is based on Auckland and the city. I have been working with Nickaela for theses activity. One of the Activity we have done it creating a tourist brochure for Auckland. What we have done introduce each landmark and talk about a litte history behind it.

City Of Sails Challenge - Pavlova Recipe

This week LS2 has been busy with a challenge called the City Of Sails. This challenge is about Auckland and in this activity there were challenges we could choose from to make a DLO about. For this challenge, I decided to work with Angela and created this DLO on how to make it. We included a recipe for whipped cream because no one can have a Pavlova without whipped cream.

What Culture are you?

This week Me and Nickela have created a graph shows have how many people are a culture. The highest was Maori which got 7. Something that I like about the Maori is the dances because the matreails are different form what other country's use to dance with. The lowest was Japanese and Fiji. What I like about Japan is there sushi it it really nice. Doing this activity made me feel amazed because I got to find out peoples cultures that I never knew.

Steampunk Art

This week we are experience steampunk. I have drawing an steampunk owl with pencil and also have made a digital version. I have also written a Definition. Steampunk means mixing different machinery with modern this. Steampunk is a type of Science fiction that was used in the century. Steampunk is a art that includes Machinery. Steampunk is often found in historical village. 

I have also made a DLO about victorian. Me and Avalon experience about wash day. Wash Day Monday in Victorian times was really hard for women as it took nearly a day depending on the amount of clothes that needed to be cleaned. Ironing was mostly the compact part of making the clothing straight. You needed to get and iron that was fully made of Cast Iron and heat it over a fire ,once it gets hot you can then lay it on your clothes and move the iron everywhere on the Clothing. It was very heavy and hard to operate. This was used in the the late 19th century. A Dolly tub and peg was also used to clean clothing. What you needed to do was twist the peg so that the clothing in the Dolly Tub would mix with the soap that was added. Soap was not bought at stores as they needed to make it. Soap are made out of lye, fats and oil and were grated into the water to help clean the clothes. On washing day they ate leftovers because washing took a very long time and there was no time to make food.

Head Girl Speech

This week the years 7 presented there Speech to some of the year 8's,Deputy Principles and the Principles. I was really nervous while presenting but seeing that every one was respecting me I felt more confident. Behind me was a photos that showed me being a leader. I wanted people to look at the photos to show what I have accomplished so far. This was different experience and I like how it express what I felt about being a role model.
