Important Values

It not about how people look nor is about how people dress up but it's about how everyone should always try their best to show respect, empathy and tolerance. Today I will be talking to you about some important values that I think we all need to share to get it back. For example, respect if we show it we get it back.

What is respect?

Respect is presenting an acceptable behaviour towards and adult, elder or just your family in general. Respect means treating someone with kindness and tolerance. For example, if someone is vegetarian and you have something that is a meat. Eating in front of them could be affecting their religion meaning you are disrespecting what they believed so you have to respect and accept that they are vegetarian. At school students are expected to respect other teachers. It is always respectful for a student to listen so that the teacher can give them the education they need.

What is empathy?

Empathy is like putting yourself in someone else's shoes to understand their lifestyle or just their personality. It’s just like the opposite of sympathy. The Definition of Empathy is the ability to understand and share feelings with another. For example, if someone is sad it's only good to talk with that person and understand what they are going through and just accept that the person feels that way.

What is tolerance?

Tolerance is sharing an idea or problem and respecting and accepting their opinion or problem. The definition of Tolerance is being patient, understanding and accepting of anything different. For example, if someone is smoking at the there house when you visit there it's only respectful if you accept it because it is their house. Tolerance also means accepting people for being a religion like Muslims, Christians, Catholic. In general, it means accepting people for who they are.


Remember It not about how people look nor is about how people dress up but it's about how everyone should always try their best to show respect, empathy and tolerance. For example, respect if we show it we get it back. I hope I have convinced you to spread kindness.

This week we had our first practice for our writing sample. Today I was writing about some about some important values like tolerance,empathy and respect.Respect is presenting an acceptable behaviour towards and adult, elder or just your family in general.Empathy is like putting yourself in someone else's shoes to understand their lifestyle or just their personality. Tolerance is sharing an idea or problem and respecting and accepting their opinion or problem. I think next time I should work on my punctuation and interesting words.

Gymastic

This week Steve (Gymnastic Instructor) came back to run our last session of Gymnastic. What we did first was played a game called Gymnastic Stuck in the mud. It was just like the regular game but if you got tagged you needed to do a Gymnastic Pose or stretch chosen by Steve. Next we got into the activity that we were doing for the block. Steve first showed us the thick beam and we needed to do a front Support and Back Support as well as side Support. The next activity was using the bar to help us use our legs to walk up the wall or Jump. After that we looked at the bar sports. We needed to have our legs high push in and out and push up and land. The last activity for Station one was the small bars. We needed to balance but have our legs tucked into our chest. The first activity on Station number too was the beam we needed to kick two times in the front and the same for the back. On the stage we needed to practices cartwheels on a blue line. We also needed to jump and twirl of the stage. The last activity was bunny hops over the small beam. The last Station was Station 3 the first activity was Backward roll,Forward roll,handstand and Cartwheel. The next activity was jumping on a spring and having a straight body.  The last activity was a dive roll. I had done this before but higher. This was tricky as I needed to tuck my body in before I rolled onto the mattress. A big thank you to Steve for Teaching us some really cool Gymnastic Skills as well as giving us the opportunity to do this activity.

Rhythm Interative’s visit to PBS

Today LS2 went to participate with the drumming that happened today. We had John come to our school and teach us some skills. He wanted to let us know that together we can make a change. We needed to listen to follow the correct beat or rhythm. He told us "If you can say it you can drum it " .We were using African drums called Djembe. Since our juniors were new to this type of activity we got to pair up with some of the students from room 1 and 4. My partner was Vaingalo and together we worked out the beat to each song. The first song was called I like drumming. Me and Vaingalo enjoyed the quick pats we needed to do on the drums. We first practiced each part of the song using our hands to learn the beat and then we started to use the drums. Did you know that Djembe in African means “ brings joy ”. A big thank to John for coming and giving us an opportunity to experience drumming and for also donating 7 drums to our school.

Stardome Trip

This term our Inquiry topic was Space. To learn more about space we went on a trip to stardome at night. We first enter a room that was round. We then watch a live show. The show showcased the different constellations,stars and moons. We observed Scorpion,Sagittarius and Maui hook. We then observed the different moons of Jupiter. Did you known that Jupiter has 96 moons. After this we then looked at Saturn. I learnt that Saturn rings are made out of ice particles and also dust. I thought that they were made out off gas and asteroids. After the Live show we got to look around stardome. There were Lego rockets like Sputnik 1,Vostok 1 and Apollo 1. My favorite part was seeing the astronaut food. Did you know that the astronaut foods are in cube and are covered in a thick coat of gelatin to reduce crumbs that might damage the rocket. This was such a fun trip and we would like to thank Stardome for this opportunity.

NZSL

This is a DLO I have created based on a celebration being held here in New Zealand called New Zealand Sign Language week.To help us create this DLO we had Fiona explain. She showed us a video that had a boy who translated a video in New Zealand Sign Language week. In my DLO I have included What NZSL is,Facts and Greetings.

Gymnastic

Today we had our second session of Gymnastic. We first started with making our body flexible. Then we played a warm up game called Toilet it was just like stuck in the mud but  when you got stuck you had to pose like a toilet have your hand up and have someone push your hand back. Then we started to do our rotation. The first rotation was building strength we used stairs and we tried to push our selves up and make a L shape with our legs. Then we went to a beam were we needed to a forward roll there was also where we use the other beam to balance and practice cartwheels on the blue line and over the beam. Then the last rotation was jumping on the trampoline and landing,Backward roll and jumping and sticking the landing.

Group Challenge

                                          

Today Mrs. Anderson challenged us to write a 50 word response to Mrs Anderson questions. Which was "Why is Kokako lodge a great place to take Years ⅞ students on camp.To help us make a 50 word response we used our Camp Diary, Photos, Outside the box and LS2 rubric. We also had a learning conversation. We worked as a group to share our ideas with each other. We told each other what we might need to use in the response. There also language features that we needed to used in order to get more point. Each point for the Language features are 5. If 50 words were used at exact then we would get 50 points. If we used all language features we would get 40 points, but we missed out one and only got 95 the 5 points were from using the rubric,photos,camp diary,outside the box DLO and for it to be completed on time.

Tech

Tech at Tamaki College was great. Mrs Ferguson group have starred planing some Design Ideas for there digital clocks. What we did first was we looked up some design so we could sketch it.  I was making this clock for my dad. After we sketch it we needed to Colour it with either Felt tips,Chalk pastels,Oil pastels and Colour Pencils. For my first design I did a Samoan clock with normal numbers and I was coloring it with Chalk pastels. For my second design I did an Homer with blocked numbers and I used felt tips to colour it. For my third design I did a Mickey mouse and I used Roman Numbers I colour it with Oil pastel. For my last design I had not enough time and it was supposed colored with colour pencils. This was really fun as it had same Art Lesson

Blog Post Data Analysis

 

I have created a DLO about my blog post analysis. My DLO that shows my goal, a graph of my total blog posts and an explanation that analyses my blogging. This is a graph that shows how much blogging I have done over the past few years with my chromebook. I first wrote why there was a graph. Then I wrote my highest and lowest blog post totals for each month for each year. Something I found interesting was looking at the blogging that I have done this year and last year. I would say there is a significant amount of change in my blog posts over the past few years.

Reading Challenge/Stars Wars-A new class/Sience fiction

This book is is called Jedi Academy a new class. This book is about a boy named Victor starspeeder. He just transferred to Jedi Academy. But his big sister is not happy about it. Once Victor arrives he thinks he going to do crazy Jedi things but not every person starts off like that after weeks of working hard something terrible happens. His friend Zach tries to Attack him because his sister Christina didn’t like him.But with Christina and Victors skill they saved the day.

Reading Challenge/Stars Wars-The Phantom Bully/Book Series 1

This book is about a boy named Roan. He has just went to Jedi Acadmey for his final year. This years he is learning about how to become a pilot.Hes been very busy learning to fly (and wash) starships. He has visted Lake Country on Naboo and has studied for the Jedi obstacle course exam. One of my favoutive parts of the book is when they have to track down dozens and dozens of vorpak clones.

Kiwi Can

This week we went to our second Kiwi Can session for Term 1. Our New Kiwi Can Leaders are  Mr Alipati and Mrs Paige.Our topic for this term was Positive Relationships. Today we learning about Positive Communication. The first thing we did was talked about active listening what it is and where we can show it. Active listening means listening and we can show this in class or at home. We then play an activty called Cop suey salute. There were 5 actions when ever Mr Alipati called a number we needed to do the action that was given for each number. We also played a challenge called remote control if he said stop we needed to spot if he said slow motion we needed to walk slow if he said play we needed to walk normal if he said reverse we needed to walk backwards if he said fast forward we needed to walk fast. If he said a different word for example jump and we were on pause we would be out.

Pencil Code

This week for Math I went on a site called Pencil code. What I have done here is used the different angle code words.I have now learnt how to use angle code.What I have also done is made a shape.It was hard because I had to figure out the turn of the turtle and much it would move forwards.

Snowboarding Skills

For this task I  watch a video about snowboarding.Then With a partner I the 10 skills in order of what you think would be the easiest to the hardest to learn how to do.I was with Chavda what we did first before we wrote the skill we discussed about the different skill and what was hard.

This week for reading I have read an article about Snowboarding and Skiing.What I have done here is made a doc then I have picked a sport and talked about the sport then I had to give three reasons why I would like to do this sport.

Making Connections

This week for Reading we read about snowboarding.The first thing we looked at was an article we each read a paragraph.Then we wrote in each box that related to the text the box are text to text,text to world and text to self.Text to text means and text related to another.Text to world means a text related to something about the world and text to self is a text related to your self.

E-ako Maths

This week for Maths I have been using E-Ako Maths.This site has different math activity.This site has different math types like multiple,Addition and subtraction.For this activity I have picked the number facts sections.What I have done is answer the question.

Time table Transum

For One of my Care Award I chose to do the Transum table 6 days challenge. What I did was each day I would play an activity for the each day.I used a google slide for this.I think the hardest game was Day six it was Times square.What I had to do for this game was I had to Multiply the number at the top of the column by the number at the left of the row and type the answer in the box.This game is called Times Square.

Table Master

This week for maths we have been learning our time tables while we were waiting to see the teacher for our learning she let us play some maths games.I played table master.For this there is a question and we have to solve it fast if we get the fastest time then we can add it to the board.

All About Me

For my Care Awards I created a presentation about myself. I talked about what I am intrens in and what I like to do.The thing I like is Christmas because we get presents and also when we go to church we make up a dance and song and then perform. So we celebrate when Jesus is born.I also like it because I get to spend more time with my family.
