Banning Energy Drinks?

Today I have created a DLO based on two points of view which is Yes or No and I have also shared my opinion on this change and a short explanation on what Energy Drinks are. We needed to think about how we were going to back up our evidence and about our opinion on which side we would chose. I think If they said yes we should ban it or no we should ban it I wouldn’t really care because I don’t drink Energy drinks and it doesn't really affect me in any way.

Kia ora everybody I’m Angela and I am here to tell you why we should never change our national flag. Would you like it if not only the flag was changed, but also our culture, our people, our food and our religion? As New Zealanders we should take a stand and stick together as we all live on this land.

Leaving our flag’s history and honor would mean us New Zealanders are disrespecting the original flag of New Zealand, and disrespecting the efforts of those who fought with that flag on their sleeves.
Yes designing the flags took a lot of time and effort, and yes they have quiet attractive colours, but wouldn't saving our money be sufficient. Imagine all the money wasted changing signage or to change every flag sewn or printed onto every uniform would cost a lot of money. Money that could be spent wisely to keep everyone above the breadline.

Did you know that in 1992, the former Minister of Māori Affairs, Matiu Rata asked to re-establish our national identity. Our current flag first flew on the 24th of March, 1902 and it still flies now, so why change it. You wouldn’t like it if your country’s flag was changed too so why change this one? Why change the flag that has been flying for over 119 years. Ask yourselves why you would do such a thing to your land?

Although the options of the new flag were attractive changing the flag would mean letting go of our past and changing our identity as New Zealanders, something I’m not prepared to do.

LI:To write a speech that persuades others to think the way you do

This week the Seniors has been working on speeches and the Juniors have been working on memorizing poem. We need to give eye contact and have expression as well as hooking the audience with persuasive language features. We needed to be confident to project our voice to the class. I think I have done a really good job because my language features changed from my last speech. What I could work on is building my confidence so I could be better when reading my speech. On Wednesday we had a guest visitor Mr Stevenson from tamaki collage to judge the selected peoples speech. In our class head girl of 2019 mele came first. Second came Jack head boy and third was Marieta.

Introduction:Today I will be talking about Penguins. It's not about how they look nor how they eats but
it is about themselves and how there are the creatures who live in such a cold place. Did you know that they male penguins
look after the eggs until it hatches. Today I will be talking to about their Appearance which is how they look,Diet which is the
type of food they eat,Habitat is about were they live and Facts about themselves

Diet:A penguins Diet is Krill,Fish,Crustacean,Squid and other small
animals. Penguins are carnivores and an interesting fact about them is how they
eat is that they don’t taste anything but the don't mind. Penguins eat about Six kilograms or thirteen
pounds of food per day and there predators seals and orcas eat penguins. The colors of there feather black and
white are called counter shading which helps them camouflage while they swim to find food. All the food that they found was
form the sea as the mother is always hunting for the food

Identification:An appearance of an Penguin is that they are color of
Black and white. They have a short neck and a long beaks as they have no teeth.
They have a large head and some penguins have yellow and a mix of pink and peach underneath
there beaks. The are covered in feathers.They also have flippers but since it is slow to walk on flippers the
lie on their backs and glide around to their location they use their bullber to protect them what they do is also called tobogganing.

Habitat:A Habitat for a Penguin is ideally cold places for example Antarctica.
Not all Penguins are found in Antarctica they can also be found in Africa,Australia,South America,Galapagos
Island and our found in the southern hemisphere. Today help them survive in the cold they use a special oil to look after their
feathers and blubber which is a thick fur that covers their stomachs when they are tobogganing to protect their stomachs.

Facts:Did you know that Penguins are a family of birds and they are warm blooded. There are about 17 different species of
penguins and they weight 45kg. Today I learnt that the largest penguins species is called emperor penguin and the smallest penguin is
officially called Little penguin or Blue Penguin. Penguins never Fly but they never cry either. It takes about 75 days for the penguins
eggs to hatch.

Conclusion: I hope you learnt something about penguins remember It's not about how they look nor how they eats
but it is about themselves and how there are the creatures who live in such a cold place. Penguins are the most Cutest and
coldest animals but every little,big,small,short,tall penguin is important in every single way.

This week we have been foucasing on how to write a Information Report. Today we were to write about a certain topic. For today we  were to write about Penguins to help us structure this we used Tips. This stands for Title,Introduction,Paragraphs and Summary. Some of the language features that needed to be used were Present tense,Nouns,Technical words and Facts because a Information report is made up of facts that are ture.. Everyone had a challenge to used a Complex sentence. A Complex sentence is made up of AAAWWUBBIS,Idea that doesn't make sense and a comma.

Some relationship you might have with other people are friendship. You know someone that you trust and someone that cares for you when your injured. Another relationship you might have is with your family. You spend time with them as well as treat them with respect. You can also have a relationship with your teacher as he or she might help you with learning and you might be communicating for example some answer.

What are Relationships?

Relationship are when two people are connected. A positive relationship can be shared between two or more people who love,support,encourage and help each other practically and emotionally. Relationships can be hard to form like a relationships with a friend maybe they don’t like what you like or maybe she or he is not a friend that you would like.

Today Mrs. Anderson challenged us to write a 50 word response to Mrs Anderson questions. Which was "Why is Kokako lodge a great place to take Years ⅞ students on camp.To help us make a 50 word response we used our Camp Diary, Photos, Outside the box and LS2 rubric. We also had a learning conversation. We worked as a group to share our ideas with each other. We told each other what we might need to use in the response. There also language features that we needed to used in order to get more point. Each point for the Language features are 5. If 50 words were used at exact then we would get 50 points. If we used all language features we would get 40 points, but we missed out one and only got 95 the 5 points were from using the rubric,photos,camp diary,outside the box DLO and for it to be completed on time.

I have used Capital letters,Commas,Apostrophe and Full Stop. I needed to work on using different punctuation. I think I need to write ideas in a more complex way as I write my ideas in a simple way.My Sentences make sense but I think I needed to works on add different types of sentences like Simple,Compound and Complex. My ideas are in order but I needed to add more sentences and I needed to work on linking my paragraphs together so they can flow.I have used Topic words and Verbs but I think I need to work on using more similes,metaphor,Alliteration and Adjectives.

I think Angela could works on add more and different punctuation. I think Angela can work on writing her ideas in a complex way. I think Angela could use some Alliteration to make her sentences more interesting . I think Angela needs to work on making her paragraphs bigger and not repeating information that have been already written I think Angela needs to make her sentences make sense so the reader understands

What harm can plastic bags do to our environment?

Oh no not again plastic bag again! Did you know that it takes up to four hundred
years for a plastic bag to break down. That's a long time. Not only that but they
have used a plastic bag once and then they have thrown it into a bin. We needed to change
using these plastic bags because they can release deadly toxins and can lead to deadly chemicals.
In this explanation I will be talking to you about what are plastic bags,Where do
these plastic bags go and what happens to our sea creatures.

What are plastics bags? Plastic bags are bag that are made out of high-density
polyethylene. As you know we use these plastic bag to help us carry our groceries.
Plastic are great but they can harm our environment. Plastics bag were first invented in 1960’s. T
hese bags have been around for a long time. Some plastic bags have only been used once and have
been thrown into the trash which will go to landfill. Plastic bag are causing a lot of waste and kill a
lot of our sea creature.

What happens to our sea creatures?

When plastic ends up in the water it not only pollute the water but
it also kills our sea creatures. When plastic is in the water some creatures like
turtles think that it is a jellyfish when they eat the plastic bag’s they can choke and die.
Did you know that over 1 million marine animals are kill every year for eating plastic. This does
not only kill our animals but it also enters in our food chain. If you don’t stop using plastic bag you
could be kill all our sea creatures. I feel really sad if all our animals died.

Where do plastic go?

Plastic bag end up in the landfill so it can break down.Did you know that 200,000 plastic bag are
dumped into landfill every hour. In Australia they use 4 billion plastic bags each day. Plastic
bags are deadly for our environment. A way to solve this is by using a reusable bag that is made
out of thick pieces of fabric. It not only so safe but you can use over and over again as it only take
up to 1,000 for it to break down.

Now you have read my explanation do you now know why plastic bags are bad for our
environment. Remember it takes up to four hundred years for a plastic bag to break down. That's a long t
ime. Not only that but people have used a plastic bag once and then they have thrown it into a bin. Which
would then be taken to landfill. If you want out to be safe environment then use a reusable bag.

After doing our writing sample we used our LS2 rubric to check our writing.Here are two rows which indicates me and my partners feedback about our writing. I was mostly at R3 but my goal is to be at  R5. The different aspects that we used to check our writing was Punctuation,Vocab,Origination,Sentences Structure,Structure and Language and Ideas. We needed to write what we needed to improve on and get our partner to write about what we needed to improve on as well. My partner was Avalon we first read through the explanation and then went and check for punctuation and do the same for the rest.

The Green Vision

At first it had been an eye; an enormous, lidless, green eye, hovering
there above the road. A few hours later, another eye had joined it.It was then that people
had started to take notice. Passers-by stopped and stared, wide-mouthed, at the mysterious
vision that had appeared seemingly out of nowhere.By the middle of the night, the full green
face could be seen. The world was now taking notice. Broadcast on TV screens across the
planet, the vision was causing quite a stir. People watched expectantly, glued to their televisions
and radios and laptops around the world, waiting for the next part of the puzzle to unravel…

As midnight struck the green stone sparkled in lights. A car drove by suddenly
boom the green stone cracked. When this cracked millions of people surrounded the green
. The clouds turned grey and the rain showed down. A crowd started to gather and take photographs.

This week for writing I was writing a narrative about the green vision. What I needed to
do was pick a picture on pobble. The picture I have chosen is called The green vision. It is about a
Green stone that is like a vision. My Narrative is about how people see the the green vision

Bridges come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. In this explanation, you will learn about
why they are built, what materials they use to make bridges and what people used to
get to the other side when bridges were not made.

People build bridges so it is easy to get over rivers and lakes. It was also built
because people mostly suffered a disease called the New Zealand disease. The New
Zealand disease is drowning. In the olden days people would swim but often they would
drown from all the heavy items they wanted to take to the other side.

Bridges can be made out of a variety of different materials and objects. A common
material that is used to make bridges today are metal,iron, and steel. In the olden days, t
hey used wood and rock to make bridges. Research shows that triangles are
the most common shapes on bridges.

If people wanted to get from one point to another without going through rough objects or
things like water and rivers. In late 1800 they used a punt to get from one point to another
without going on liquid that might damage items people wanted to take to the other side. People
used a punt to get to the other side a punt is when you go into a long and narrow boat and
you had to pull a chain to push the boat forwards.

Like I said before bridges are now the things that help us cross: rivers, lakes, oceans and

to get from one side to another. Now that you have looked at this explanation you now know

This week for writing. Ms Kirkpatrick writing group was writing a explanation about why people build bridges. We needed to have a hook my hook was a list and we also needed to have 5 paragraphs. The introduction needed to link to the paragraphs and we also needed to include what we are going to talk about in our Introduction. Something easy in I found to write in my explanation was the conclusion because we needed to copied and paste the introduction and then change it up.

ipad, tv and watch. As people know that the time itself-go fast or slow.
Each hand has its own role to play. The shorthand is for an hour, the long hand is for
the minutes and the thin hand is for the seconds. Today I will be telling you how to tell the time.
This explanation will tell you the about the hands, numerals and how to tell analogue time.

The hands on the clock is the the second most important thing on the clock to be able to
tell the time. Each hand has its own role to play. The shorthand is for an hour, the long hand
is for the minutes and the thin hand is for the seconds. If the shorthand is pointing to any number and
the long hand is pointing to the number 6 the timer would be a number and 30.

The numerals mean the numbers. The small lines are numbers and they represent
the minutes and the big numbers represent the hours. So if the long hand is on the
eight line then its eight minutes and if the shorthand is on 2 then its eight minutes to two.
The numbers are important so we know what time it is.

How to tell analogue time? First, you read the number at the end of
the longhand. Then read if it is past or if it is to. 12 to 6 on the right side is to and
12 to 6 on the left side is past. Then lastly read the number on the shorthand.
