My New College
My New College
Talofa Lava and I’m Angela who is a year 8 at Panmure bridge school. I enjoy Arts and Food. Next year I will be attending my new college. Edgewater College is my new college in 2020. I feel a little nervous about adapting to a new school as I enjoy my current one. Attending my new college would be overwhelming and I think adapting to a new college can make a new me. Today I am writing an explanation on what college I am going to and how I feel about it. It's not about the people there nor is about how they look but it's about how you can get the best education you can.
What college am I going to?
For 2020 I will be going to Edgewater college. Edgewater college is a college full of Year 9,10,11,12 and 13. Edgewater provides a safe environment for students to learn and experience a wide range of activities. A dynamic and exciting school that serves its community exceptionally well.A wide range of subjects and pathways that meet students’ needs and interests, A safe, supportive and happy learning environment, Well-qualified and exceptionally dedicated staff who work alongside students and their parents, Differentiated classes and programmes, including gifted and talented and leadership opportunities.
Why I chose this college?

Why I chose this college?
The reason why I chose this college because when I attend the year 9 for 2020 orientation ti gave me a lot of opportunities. They also gave opportunities for Arts like Choir - EC Voices, Jazz Band, Otago University, Shakespeare Competition, Theatresports, The School Production. They also give opportunities for Cultural groups like Cook Island Cultural Group, Fijian Cultural Group, Filipino Cultural Group, Japanese Tounagisa Group, K Pop Group, Kapa Haka, Samoan Cultural Group, Tongan Group Cultural.
My current school?
At Panmure bridge school we are expected that students respect other teachers. We get them to listen so they can learn better. Panmure Bridge School loves to have new students. The teachers need them to listen so they can give them the education they need so they should listen and be respectful to the teachers. At school, kids should be able to be confident when they talk to visitors or at assembly. They should also be confident because some visitors might ask what they are learning about. They need to talk so that the visitor can learn about the different things that Panmure Bridge does at school.

My goals are to always try to show respect to teachers at all times and give a positive attitude towards my learning. Try my very best to be on time every day and present myself in full correct uniform.

Important Values
Important Values
It not about how people look nor is about how people dress up but it's about how everyone should always try their best to show respect, empathy and tolerance. Today I will be talking to you about some important values that I think we all need to share to get it back. For example, respect if we show it we get it back.
What is respect?
Respect is presenting an acceptable behaviour towards and adult, elder or just your family in general. Respect means treating someone with kindness and tolerance. For example, if someone is vegetarian and you have something that is a meat. Eating in front of them could be affecting their religion meaning you are disrespecting what they believed so you have to respect and accept that they are vegetarian. At school students are expected to respect other teachers. It is always respectful for a student to listen so that the teacher can give them the education they need.
What is empathy?
Empathy is like putting yourself in someone else's shoes to understand their lifestyle or just their personality. It’s just like the opposite of sympathy. The Definition of Empathy is the ability to understand and share feelings with another. For example, if someone is sad it's only good to talk with that person and understand what they are going through and just accept that the person feels that way.
What is tolerance?
Tolerance is sharing an idea or problem and respecting and accepting their opinion or problem. The definition of Tolerance is being patient, understanding and accepting of anything different. For example, if someone is smoking at the there house when you visit there it's only respectful if you accept it because it is their house. Tolerance also means accepting people for being a religion like Muslims, Christians, Catholic. In general, it means accepting people for who they are.
Remember It not about how people look nor is about how people dress up but it's about how everyone should always try their best to show respect, empathy and tolerance. For example, respect if we show it we get it back. I hope I have convinced you to spread kindness.

Maori Enterprise
Before
Enterprise and Economics was first introduced, by our Maori ancestors, before the Europeans settled in New Zealand. Coastal Maori sold Seafood (Kaimoana), while the Inlands preserved birds and berries. The Maori's would often trade valuable items, not knowing it's true value. Maori had grew a number of plants that had been bought by the first arrivals. By the 19th century Maori's ownership passed out
After
Enterprise was introduced, by Maori's.
Coastal Maori and Inlands preserved food.
Good items were sold with cheaper bargains.
Maori plants were brought from the first settlers
19th century they gave ownership.
Today we have created a 5 sentence summary on the Early Maori Enterprise story that we read. The before shows what we wrote about the book in 5 sentences. Then we need to change something. We need to have only 10 syllables in each sentences. We used our body to help us count each syllables in each sentences this was pretty hard but I manage to finish. I was working collaboratively with Mele and Marieta.

Water Filting
Why did we create water filters? Did you know that 2.4 billion people don’t have access to clean water. We had the idea of creating a water filter in groups, so we can see if we can filter the dirty water that we collected to represent the water that those people have access to. We then filled our bottles with our materials in order and tied it off with our cloth and coffee filters. The final part was to test it and our groups water filter did the best.
