Rainbow crayons/Fake Instagram advertisment



This is a fake Instagram template we have created in order to get customers.First we email all teachers at the school asked for permission for us to come and collect some old crayons they aren't using. Then we need to color code then and also cut them so that when we placed it in the mold it would fit.Next Me,Haylee and Avalon were sent to the school kitchen to start making the crayons. What we would do was have stations, (Filling Mold,Melting and also the fridge) We worked well and managed to make 99.After that we then need to package them. We used clear packaging. We careful packed each crayon as we didn’t want crayon all over the packaging. Then we need to work on our banner.We then started to work on making a banner and decoration for our stall. We have created rainbow logos and used a lot of colors. We then have taped then together to join it.To make it interesting some girls have put together a playlist for our stall.

Athletics


This week we had athletics day. We all dressed in our house colors and enjoyed the activity. I was team green the people in my team were Nyjah,Avalon,Neavah,Jonothan and Giovanni. We had 9 activity to do. The first activity we did was rob the nest. What we needed to do was try to get as many balls in the hulla hop. There was also one person form your group that had a bib on that person could tag anyone form getting the balls form there team. The next activity was on jump you needed to jump the farest to make your team win. Next was the sponge what we needed to do was jump using the sack collect the spong go under the pipe and over the rope to were the bucket of water is then you need to dip the sponge in the bucket of water and go over the rope under the pipe squeeze it in the bucket and then jump back with the sack.After that we played shot put we had to throw the ball with our shot skills. Then after that we moved onto discus there were 3 different kinds of spots to throw the hop over and they were point 1, 3 and 5 we tried to stick with 1, 3 because it would be easier for use and because at the end of the game we won with 31 points. After that we moved onto the next activity for this we had to line up as a group and lay our chest and stomach on the ground and when the man says go we had to run and jump up and try and grab a ball. After that activity we had a bark under the shad for 20 minutes then we moved on to the egg and spoon game for this we had get into our line and have a spoon and a fake egg on top of the spoon and walk in and out of the cones and walk over the chair and wait until the man says run back and we run back we won that round. After all of the activity we had lunch which was sausages we ate our sausages and our own lunch and went and played when lunch time was finish we sat in our class outside and all the races in each class fasted. l enjoyed Athlectics day because we could have fun and play in the hot weather and work as a team.

Shakespeare



This week we were learning about Shakespeare. l was working with Avalon, Nyjah, Chavda ans Marieta we made our own script in Shakespeare language and how he use to write his plays. We made a video on chatter pix which is wear we draw a line threw the mouth on the photo and record our voice. This was really fun to create and learn more about because we got to create our own scripts. We deiced to chose the fighting seen because we all found it interesting than the other sense that were in the play Romeo and Juliet. We each had a script which we had to say when we were recording the chatter pix. We also added some facts and information about William Shakespeare and how old he and when he died.

Helping Room 2!


Today I went to room two to help some of Mrs Pydres Student. Here is a photo of me helping Tonga and AJ learn the alphabet. I first gave them a tip which was to sing the alphabet to help them remember each letter. Then we practiced writing each letter together I used some simple words to explain how to draw each letter. After writing each word I would get them to make a sentence and then sound out the letter. I really liked how AJ and Tonga were really respectful and if they had a question they would always raise there hands. Thank you to Mrs Pydres for helping me achieve one of my activity to earn my fist gold badge

Personification Writing

The morning shines upon my face and the thick glass protects my face from the roaring wind. People stare and people laugh but all I do is glare right back while they pass. Then all of a sudden I hear a ring by the door and someone puts their hand on my face. But I wonder if they ever use soap..I get shoved in a box then I peek through the whole and see the things I’ve never seen before. After days of being loved, things started to change. My hand tied in a not no longer able to undo and my feet begin to feel poor as I’m thrown in front of the door.  I see the Sun I see the night I see what goes by me whenever I am left alone. As I touched the brown muddy black puddle my holes give way for the brown water this makes me drown and I hope for a bath. My ripped holes make all the water come threw l am scared what to do. My hands aren’t tied l am being dragged through the black muddy water l can feel the rocky muddy ground as l went under for a second dive. Still waiting for that bath!The last thing I heard was the roaring wind across my face the last thing I knew was it was time to say goodbye and off to the bin I started to cry being all alone broke my heart but being unwanted tore my apart.


This week for writing we focused on Personification. Personification means giving a non - living object human qualities. For today's class we needed to find partner. Then we need to sit back to back and try and write a personification writing with out talking or looking at each other.We thought about personification and the 5 senses to help us write a shoes journey. My partner was Avalon we mange to write 11 sentences. It was hard because we couldn't communicate as we both did our own things.









Reading Presentation




This week me and Avalon created a DLO on a Horrible Histories book that we chose. We chose the book Vile Victorians. After that we needed to choose a topic on the Vile Victorians. Me and Avalon chose School as we are in school as well. This first slide explains about the usual and horrible names that were given to children. Queen Victoria didn't like children so she used daily words to name children. The next slide talked about school punishments. Did you know that if you spilled ink on your piece of paper of if you made finger marks your hand would be caned until they were sore. The next slide talked about the school teacher. Did you know that men teachers were paid more that women teacher. The last slide is some interesting facts about queen Victoria. Did you know that On Christmas her and her husband would send decorated trees to school to help celebrate Christmas. People thought of her as a Royal Disease. She had 9 children and she married Albert,Prince Consort. Did you know that she ruled for over 63 years and died at the age of 81. A lot of people didn't know that her real name was not Victoria.

Tech

Today was another session of Tech at Tamaki Collage. Today we were programming our Mbot to avoid objects using the sensors. Sensors means something that detects if something is in the way. Like us human our sensors are sight,smell,taste and feel. The program blocks we were using were Action,operators,events and control. On my first try I got it to avoid the bowl but then it fell over the table. This meant that I needed to put a stop. Once doing this I tried it again but i didn't work. So I removed it and tried the obstacle that Mrs Dunn had built using binders,box and flies. My Mbot did avoid the files but it kept bumming into the box. I went back to my computer and change so that is was less than instead of greater than. I really enjoed this weeks lesson and hope to do something more exciting.

Banning Energy Drinks?


Today I have created a DLO based on two points of view which is Yes or No and I have also shared my opinion on this change and a short explanation on what Energy Drinks are. We needed to think about how we were going to back up our evidence and about our opinion on which side we would chose. I think If they said yes we should ban it or no we should ban it I wouldn’t really care because I don’t drink Energy drinks and it doesn't really affect me in any way.

Saving the Fish

Why do help we fish? What is a fish? Who is doing this? Why is this happening? So many questions pop into our heads when someone says “Saving the fish”. The most important question is why we should save these amazing creatures who can breathe as well as swim under water. It not about how they look nor is it about their size but it's about how each and every fish is still alive enjoying its life underwater. Not only does fish need saving but our water too. Pollution could potentially harm our sea Creatures. Scientists have identified 200 areas declared as 'dead zones' as not a single organism can be grown.

Today Hiwi the Kiwi came to our school to talk about saving our fish. Fish in maori is called Kai Moana. We know that Kia Moana is made up of 2 words Kai and Moana. Kai means Foods and Moana means sea. It important to save our fish as if no fish are saved our New Zealand food tradition Fish and Chips will be broken. What’s harming our fish are plastics. These hard misshapen plastics bottles could kill our Fish’s. Due to plastic pollution over 100,000 fish have died from all sorts of plastic..If we see plastic we should remove it from the ocean.

If all fish are gone people could lose their jobs as fishermen. We learnt that if we caught a fish we should measure it but if the fish was really big we needed to back them back as they are breeding fish. Using a Wet cloth and picking it up and putting it back into the water is another way to say our fish.We do this because if we use our hands the coating that is used to protect the fish’s scales will rub off and the scales will be damage. We needed to remember if we caught a fish we needed to put it in a bucket mixed with salt and ice.

Not only do our fish get harm but our Birds do throwing plastic in the sea makes the seabirds mistake them for food.There are about 1 million seabirds who died each year. Throw water at seabirds to shoo them away from boats when fishing - save our seabirds by keeping boats clean and putting bait away.They also taught us that safety was the most important thing when fishing. Children and Adults must wear life jackets as if the boat is in danger they can hop out and float using the life jacket. Always tell someone where you are going and when you are coming back if in danger use a flare so someone can spot the location you are endangered. Make sure that your boat is clean so it won’t attract birds.

Financial Literacy


Today some students from LS2 learnt about Financial Literacy ( Money Learning). Today learning intention was - To understand profit equals income minus expenditure. The first thing we needed to do was make a recording sheet in our maths books. We needed to gather some items 2 dice one number 1-6 and a dice that was plain so that we could use a dice to write J,J,H,H,B,B we then gather 2 different colored dices.I was playing with Angela and we were adding up our balances at the end we found that Angela made the most money but had a big amount so that meant that she overdraft she didn't make a profit. l made 121 dollars and taking away 70 dollars for rent l ended up with 60 dollars.

Tips to stay safe on Guy Fawkes



This week since Guy Fawkes is taking place soon, the seniors created simple and creative DLO's about Guy Fawkes. We did this to explain some clear and understanding safety tips about guy fawkes to our juniors. We made it look interesting, by using free icons and clear words.

Summaries the text/Protest



This week in reading, Waiheke group read a book about some of New Zealand's most historical protests. This book was called "Stand Up - A History of Protest in New Zealand".  During reciprocal reading, we made a list of vocabulary, questions, and predictions. The task was to complete a literacy weaving from everyone making their own strip and using two words each from the book. I chose Protest Signs and The Depression Riots. Our summary above made up of two example protests in the book, shows how the people protested and why. What is protesting? It is expressing your opinion of a cause using signs, banners, flags, marches, and etc

Literacy Weaving

This week Waiheke group were practicing Reciprocal Reading to unpack the text that we read. After doing this we got to pick two words from the book. We then used the Literacy weaving template to add our words and pictures. We put the words in the 3rd and 5th boxes and we put our pictures that were related to the words in the 1st and 7th boxes. We didn't put anything in the X part because that was saved to put the other Literacy weaving on top. After doing this we had a learning conversation to discuss the words we picked and meaning.

Guy Fawkes


This week is Guy Fawkes and today we made a DLO about Guy fawkes to find the meaning behind this celebration.Guy Fawkes is remembered since he helped the catholic people. The catholic people did not enjoy being ruled by King James 1 in fact they decide to kill him. King James didn’t allow the catholic people to read the bible. A man by the name of Robert Catesby declared to kill the king he gathered 13 men along with Guy fawkes. They used gunpowder to try and kill the king. Today we still celebrate guy fawkes by lighting fireworks and more. in order to remember what happed

Tech at Tamaki Collage

Today was another session of tech. Our tech teacher was Mr Grundy. For tech most of us continued to use the backsaw to cut a piece off the wood. Today I managed to use the chisel and sandpaper for the 2 pieces of my wood. Some people were using the benchook, mallet and chisel to cut a piece off their piece off the wood. As usual we added our names to the board for help from Mr Grundy. Next week I will continue chiseling out my second piece. I am trying to make a piano for my mum as last time I made a clock with Mrs Ferguson for my dad.

A want or need enterprise



This week for inquiry we did a research on enterprise and define what a want or need is about and added examples to it. I worked with Angela, Taheesha & I. We first needed to define what a want or a need was all about. After researching about it we added the definition to it and put 2 examples about a want or a need. On the other slides we had questions which were, how do we know or find out what other people want or need?, What is enterprise/an entrepreneur? that was the questions that we did for our DLO that needed to be answer. Our DLO is just based on enterprise and a want or a need. A need is when you need water, food, shelter, which are the most important things that could make a human being alive. A want is when I get older and I want to become a doctor or and artist since I enjoy art and helping people when I can. Sometimes something you want might not come true, and a need is something you really need in your life.
