Armistice Commemoration
This week we had a Our own Commemoration for Armistice day. What happen first was Ofa stared the prayer then Mr Johnston went up to talk about Armistice Day and the soldiers. Next Tiava and Jeremiah read a poem in English and Maori. Then we had a person form the New Zealand Army Force Defense who talked to us about the army. We also had a cross that holed all the poppy that the students made. We next turn to the flag and remembered the important people who were in the war while The last post and Reveille was playing then we had 1 minute of silence. Then each class went to put up there poppy to remember them there were also olive tree there as a symbol. Lastly Mrs Kirkpatrick read a poem called In Flanders Field. After this Commemoration the person form New Zealand Army Force Defense came to talk to us year 7 and 8s about his career and why he choose to be a soldier. He asked what we wanted to be. I wanted to be an soldier to help out the world. He also mention that we was in the army for ten years,went to Afghanistan to help out and had 6 months of training.
