Tech

Tech at Tamaki College was great. Mrs Ferguson group have starred planing some Design Ideas for there digital clocks. What we did first was we looked up some design so we could sketch it.  I was making this clock for my dad. After we sketch it we needed to Colour it with either Felt tips,Chalk pastels,Oil pastels and Colour Pencils. For my first design I did a Samoan clock with normal numbers and I was coloring it with Chalk pastels. For my second design I did an Homer with blocked numbers and I used felt tips to colour it. For my third design I did a Mickey mouse and I used Roman Numbers I colour it with Oil pastel. For my last design I had not enough time and it was supposed colored with colour pencils. This was really fun as it had same Art Lesson

Reading Chalnge/Amulet Prince of Elves/Your Choice Genre

This part of the book is about how Emily survived the confusion of Guardian Academy but Max Griffin has Stolen the Mother Stone with it the elf king demands new amulets form other people. That would give him the power to invade and destroy the nation of Windsor. Emily and her friend lead young soldiers of the Cielis Guard in a fight to stop him but Max stands in there way. Emily trys to seek information from the voice of her Amulet, she discovers that the Voice is much more evil than she ever could have imagined.

Blog Post Data Analysis

 

I have created a DLO about my blog post analysis. My DLO that shows my goal, a graph of my total blog posts and an explanation that analyses my blogging. This is a graph that shows how much blogging I have done over the past few years with my chromebook. I first wrote why there was a graph. Then I wrote my highest and lowest blog post totals for each month for each year. Something I found interesting was looking at the blogging that I have done this year and last year. I would say there is a significant amount of change in my blog posts over the past few years.

Reading Challenge/One fish Two fish Red Fish Blue Fish/Poetry

This book is a poetry. This book is really interesting because it rhymes. The story is so interesting because it has different creatures. My favorite part of the story is when a man named Ned whose feet stick out from his bed and a creature who has a bird in his ear. I use to read a lot of Dr.Seuss book when I was little and this was my favorite I would really recommend this for little kids as you would get a good laugh

This book is is called Jedi Academy a new class. This book is about a boy named Victor starspeeder. He just transferred to Jedi Academy. But his big sister is not happy about it. Once Victor arrives he thinks he going to do crazy Jedi things but not every person starts off like that after weeks of working hard something terrible happens. His friend Zach tries to Attack him because his sister Christina didn’t like him.But with Christina and Victors skill they saved the day.

Reading Challenge/Stars Wars-The Phantom Bully/Book Series 1

This book is about a boy named Roan. He has just went to Jedi Acadmey for his final year. This years he is learning about how to become a pilot.Hes been very busy learning to fly (and wash) starships. He has visted Lake Country on Naboo and has studied for the Jedi obstacle course exam. One of my favoutive parts of the book is when they have to track down dozens and dozens of vorpak clones.

Ki o rahi



This week we had our second to last session for Ki o Rahi. We first went over the rules. Listing to the rules is important as it will keep people safe. We split into two teams one was read and one was yellow,I was in team red. We first starred off with a kick. The two people in the middle would be the people in your team so if they catch the ball then your teams starts if you drop it then you have to give to to the other team. Then you run around and torch the pou with the ball and go and touch the middle if they rp one tag on you have to pass it and if you rip two tags off it goes to the other team. If the yellow teams gets the ball then you need to throw the ball to the thing in the middle.

Brando Yellavich

This week we for reading me and group Waiheke read a book about Brando Yellavich. This DLO talks about his Journey and it also talks about the book. Something I have learnt form Brando Yellavich was taking risks. He was really brave and he completed his goal to raise 10,000 for the Roland McDonald Charity. I would like to know what food he survive off. I think this was hard for him as he was also diagnosed with dyslexia and ADHD. He was written two books and one that I have read is called WildBoy it talks about the challenges he faced during his Journey. Here is also a a picture I have drawn

  • I have used Capital letters,Commas,Apostrophe and Full Stop. I needed to work
  • on using different punctuation. I think I need to write ideas in a more complex way
  • as I write my ideas in a simple way.My Sentences make sense but I think I needed

What harm can plastic bags do to our environment?


Oh no not again plastic bag again! Did you know that it takes up to four hundred
years for a plastic bag to break down. That's a long time. Not only that but they
have used a plastic bag once and then they have thrown it into a bin. We needed to change
using these plastic bags because they can release deadly toxins and can lead to deadly chemicals.
In this explanation I will be talking to you about what are plastic bags,Where do
these plastic bags go and what happens to our sea creatures.


What are plastics bags? Plastic bags are bag that are made out of high-density
polyethylene. As you know we use these plastic bag to help us carry our groceries.
Plastic are great but they can harm our environment. Plastics bag were first invented in 1960’s. T
hese bags have been around for a long time. Some plastic bags have only been used once and have
been thrown into the trash which will go to landfill. Plastic bag are causing a lot of waste and kill a
lot of our sea creature.


What happens to our sea creatures?
When plastic ends up in the water it not only pollute the water but
it also kills our sea creatures. When plastic is in the water some creatures like
turtles think that it is a jellyfish when they eat the plastic bag’s they can choke and die.
Did you know that over 1 million marine animals are kill every year for eating plastic. This does
not only kill our animals but it also enters in our food chain. If you don’t stop using plastic bag you
could be kill all our sea creatures. I feel really sad if all our animals died.


Where do plastic go?
Plastic bag end up in the landfill so it can break down.Did you know that 200,000 plastic bag are
dumped into landfill every hour. In Australia they use 4 billion plastic bags each day. Plastic
bags are deadly for our environment. A way to solve this is by using a reusable bag that is made
out of thick pieces of fabric. It not only so safe but you can use over and over again as it only take
up to 1,000 for it to break down.


Now you have read my explanation do you now know why plastic bags are bad for our
environment. Remember it takes up to four hundred years for a plastic bag to break down. That's a long t
ime. Not only that but people have used a plastic bag once and then they have thrown it into a bin. Which
would then be taken to landfill. If you want out to be safe environment then use a reusable bag.

After doing our writing sample we used our LS2 rubric to check our writing.Here are two rows which indicates me and my partners feedback about our writing. I was mostly at R3 but my goal is to be at  R5. The different aspects that we used to check our writing was Punctuation,Vocab,Origination,Sentences Structure,Structure and Language and Ideas. We needed to write what we needed to improve on and get our partner to write about what we needed to improve on as well. My partner was Avalon we first read through the explanation and then went and check for punctuation and do the same for the rest.

Reading Challenge/Biography-Autobiography/Sister

This book is about a girl named Riana she can’t wait to have a sister. But when her sister arrives things get different her and her sister fight. First they had fish as pets but then they died then came a Lizzard but the crickets ate it . Then Amara wanted a snake but Riana was scared of snakes.Their parents fight and neatly separate. Raina and Amara need to learn a way to get along to save their parents from splitting up. They go on a road trip to see they cousins. Things have change with her cousins personality and they make fun of her for sleep with a teddy bear. There Dad and Mom have been keeping secretes from them and in the middle of no wear they are trapped because the petrol ran out.

This book is about a boy named Greg Heffley. School property has been physically harmed and he is the prime suspect of what happen. The wired thing is he's innocent.  He tries to earn money to buy Christmas gifts but gets into trouble at school. The authorities are closing in, but when a surprise blizzard hits him and his family are trapped indoors. To earn money he goes to knock on a mans door to clear the drive way that was full of snow for 5 dollars. He then started shoveling sooner or later it stated to snow again and it looked like he barley did anything. Then he started to think of a way to clear the snow faster. Then he had an idea he went to his grandmas house which was few streets away and remembered that she kept her lawn mower in the garage. Unfortunately it didn't go as plan because the blade cut right through the snow and it stayed in the exacted same place. Then he got the sprinkler and water down the snow. He was happy because it worked, but then he had to go to the store and buy 5 big bags of rock salt  to metal down the drive way. Also his best friend Rowley has warn him about the blizzard but Greg doesn't believe him. Then the news came on and told them that the snow would be 2-3 feet tall. Then the house was flooded.

Current Events


Today, we have done Reading we needed to find 2 different articles to put onto a template. On this template, there are 6 boxes for the 5 W's and the H, along with 2 other boxes for the two sides of the topic, and another for you to say what you think the author wanted us to learn from the article. One of the articles needed to be local or national, while the other article needs to be international. For this task I worked with Jack, Jayden, Nidhi, and Holy, and we all had fun. The article I have chosen is about a Japanese Spacecraft landing on asetriod. This was really interesting because they were collecting rock samples.

The Broad Street Killer



This week we have made a DLO about a book called The Broad Street Killer. The story is about a man named Dr John Snow who isolate the cause of Cholera epidemic. In London Soho in the nineteenth century he struggled to find where the disease was spreading he developed a spot map which Identified cluster patterns of Cholera. Dr John snow was the first person who stop the disease Cholera from spreading around Soho.Cholera means severe diarrhea or disease that can cause runny poo. Cholera is an infectious disease caused by the microbe Vibrio. They are infected with the disease for the same reasons as people living in the nineteenth century London:crowded,living conditions,poor sewerage systems and untreated drinking water.

Care award/Colours/Confident


This week I have created a DLO about colours. I have done this with my teacher. I have explained the different types of colours and a word that I and my teacher have learnt about. Me and Mrs Anderson have found out that Analogous means something that is next to each other or something that is nears each other. For example, if you were going to colour something and you wanted to blend it would to best to pick the colours that are next to each other. I have also talked about the primary colours and secondary colours. Primary Colours are colours that you can mix to make other colours as well as being known as the first colours. Prime means first for example Optimus prime he was the first robot. Prime also can mean important. The primary colours and Red, Yellow and Blue and Secondary Colours are the second colours. Because the primary colours are the colour that makes the secondary colours. The Secondary colours are Orange, Purple and Green. If you mix red and yellow you get orange if you mix red and blue you get purple and if you mix yellow and blue you get green.

On Saturday 5th December I went with my team Error 404. My team was Carl, Jack, Alex, and Sanujin. We were called that because we did have Error during making the robot but we always found a way to solve it. We went to a competition called Into Orbit to compete. What we did first we all meet up in the hall to discuss the rules. We then went to go and set our things on our table. There was a timetable which showed what time we needed to be somewhere. We first went to a room where we needed to introduce our self's and our robot. We then went to go and talk about the activity we have chosen and explain why we chose the activity. After this, we had the first challenge we were against a school. The rules were that there could only be two people in the square. If the robot does not come back and we move it that would be our first penalty. Each penalty takes away 2 points. We got 2 penalties for the first challenge. We then went for a break after we ate we then went to go change something about the robot before we have to go for our next challenge. Our next challenge was hard because the school against us had a different layout then ours and was really smart we got 3 penalties. We then went to another room where we needed to explain the challenges or problems we faced. Next, we went to a room where we needed to talk about how we worked together when we were at school learning about this. Finally, we faced our last challenge and we came out with 4 penalties. I think we tried our best and we all did a great job. It was then time for prize giving we didn't win a trophy but we got lego medals. The skills I have learnt in this are programming a robot and also building it.

This is a photo of some art that we have done today.The skills that I learnt in this lesson was shading,using oil pastel and soft pastel as well as learning how to trace without an window.The first thing that I needed to do was trace an apple template that Mrs Ferguson gave us. Then we used oil paste. The colours we used were red,orange,yellow,brown,purple and green. We needed to colours down in a curved way so it would look like a round apple because apple are not flat. We used paper towers to bled all the colours. We then used soft pastels. I have to say the soft pastels were hard to use because they only applied a little bit of colour so I needed to go over twice to get the red apple colour. We needed to scrape the soft pastels with scissors into powder. Then we could apply it on our apple using a cotton tip.I really like the way that my apple turned out and the blending. This was really fun and I hope to do this in my spare time or teach people about a skill I have learnt.
