Fractions Solving
This week for maths I was sloving a promblem with fractions. The qestions was Bob has $30 to spend at Rainbow's End. He spends ⅔ of it in the ticket 7/10 of the remaining amount at the shop. After that spends ⅔ of what's left on food. How much money did he take home? What you do first is Divided 3 and 30 which will equal 10 then you times 2 and 10 which will equal 20 and your answer is 20 dollars.

Problem Solving
This week for Maths we were learning how to solve a problem with fractions. The questions was Joel is ordering pizza for her group. There are 14 people in the group. She wants to buy enough pizza so that each person could have 1/3 of the pizza. What is the least number of pizzas Joel should order? Each pizza costs $9.99 how much does she spend/How much should each person pay. First thing you need to do is write down your equation. Our equation is going to be ⅓ of 15 to make it easy you need to divide 15 and 3 which will equal 5 then you times 5 and the 1 which will equal 5.What you do first is get the five from the previous answer then you times it by the price of the pizza which will equal 50 then you times the people which is 14 times 50 so each people should pay 3.

This week for Maths Mr Wong Created a Challenge for Mrs Anderson maths group. What I needed to do first was make a copy and then answer the questions on the sheet. We could use any strategies to solve this. I used algorithm and tidy numbers. For this stage It was subtraction.

Why are bridges built?
Why are bridges built?
Bridges are now the things that help us cross: rivers, lakes, oceans and valleys.
Bridges come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. In this explanation, you will learn about
why they are built, what materials they use to make bridges and what people used to
get to the other side when bridges were not made.

People build bridges so it is easy to get over rivers and lakes. It was also built
because people mostly suffered a disease called the New Zealand disease. The New
Zealand disease is drowning. In the olden days people would swim but often they would
drown from all the heavy items they wanted to take to the other side.

Bridges can be made out of a variety of different materials and objects. A common
material that is used to make bridges today are metal, iron, and steel. In the olden days, t
hey used wood and rock to make bridges. Research shows that triangles are
the most common shapes on bridges.

If people wanted to get from one point to another without going through rough objects or
things like water and rivers. In late 1800 they used a punt to get from one point to another
without going on liquid that might damage items people wanted to take to the other side. People
used a punt to get to the other side a punt is when you go into a long and narrow boat and
you had to pull a chain to push the boat forwards.

This week for writing. Ms Kirkpatrick writing group was writing a explanation about why people build bridges. We needed to have a hook my hook was a list and we also needed to have 5 paragraphs. The introduction needed to link to the paragraphs and we also needed to include what we are going to talk about in our Introduction. Something easy in I found to write in my explanation was the conclusion because we needed to copied and paste the introduction and then change it up.

Bridge Design Evaluation
This week for Inquiry we are building bridges out of tooth picks. Fist we needed to get into groups then we needed to plan out who is en-charge of what, plan a design and the measurement. Avalon,Chavda and Joel were in my group. Avalon was the boss I was the Accountant Chavda was the secretary and Joel was the architect. The bridge that we were building was a truss bridge. Next we got a board and started to make the sides. We made two then we made the deck. We needed to keep count of the toothpicks because we needed to pay 72c for each sticks. I would like to give a huge thank you to Mr Anderson for Providing the Glue and toothpicks. We have designed a truss bridge that has been reinforced. We have used triangles on our bridge. The bridge deck spans 29 cm in length and is 6 cm wide. We choose a truss bridge because the triangles would make the bridge stronger. We have used 185 toothpicks. We also used extra toothpicks, to make our bridge stronger. We used PVA glue and a glue gun. It cost 5$ to use the glue gun. Altogether the cost was $138.80c.The deck worked really well but the the sides were bending. The bridge hold up to 1200g. We got 8/10 for the way our bridge looked. The tuck also fitted through the bridge. What we could work on Next time. Next time l think we could work on adding more triangles and more toothpicks under our bridge to make it more stronger. We could have double layered all of our toothpicks. We used rice to see if our bridge will hold or break. Our group placed 3rd overall. We think that we did great overall with our bridge.

Virtual Reality
For Inquiry we are learning about bridges. Today we worked with Yvonne and her research team from Augmented lab at Auckland University. What we needed to do first was find our name on 1 of the table that was set out. I was so excited because on my table I could see the Virtual Reality cardboard. What we needed to do first was go near the whiteboard then one of the people form Yvonne team told me that I needed to shut my right eye and read the words that was on top of the board and do the same but close my left eye. Then they wanted me to walk straight and then turn and walk straight back. Next we took some tests the test included some questions about the first Panmure bridge. We needed to do this in partners. My partner was Hajera. Next we looked at a video through the Virtual Reality Cardboard the video explained how the bridge was built. Next we looked at a Learning mission. What we needed to do was deliver an email and parcel we needed to cross the bridge. After Morning tea we got pizza and garlic bread I would like to give a hudge thank you to Yvonne and her research team for helping us and creating this project. This was so fun my favorite part was the Virtual Reality cardboard.
