Gymastic

This week Steve (Gymnastic Instructor) came back to run our last session of Gymnastic. What we did first was played a game called Gymnastic Stuck in the mud. It was just like the regular game but if you got tagged you needed to do a Gymnastic Pose or stretch chosen by Steve. Next we got into the activity that we were doing for the block. Steve first showed us the thick beam and we needed to do a front Support and Back Support as well as side Support. The next activity was using the bar to help us use our legs to walk up the wall or Jump. After that we looked at the bar sports. We needed to have our legs high push in and out and push up and land. The last activity for Station one was the small bars. We needed to balance but have our legs tucked into our chest. The first activity on Station number too was the beam we needed to kick two times in the front and the same for the back. On the stage we needed to practices cartwheels on a blue line. We also needed to jump and twirl of the stage. The last activity was bunny hops over the small beam. The last Station was Station 3 the first activity was Backward roll,Forward roll, handstand and Cartwheel. The next activity was jumping on a spring and having a straight body.  The last activity was a dive roll. I had done this before but higher. This was tricky as I needed to tuck my body in before I rolled onto the mattress. A big thank you to Steve for Teaching us some really cool Gymnastic Skills as well as giving us the opportunity to do this activity.

Rhythm Interative’s visit to PBS

Today LS2 went to participate with the drumming that happened today. We had John come to our school and teach us some skills. He wanted to let us know that together we can make a change. We needed to listen to follow the correct beat or rhythm. He told us "If you can say it you can drum it " .We were using African drums called Djembe. Since our juniors were new to this type of activity we got to pair up with some of the students from room 1 and 4. My partner was Vaingalo and together we worked out the beat to each song. The first song was called I like drumming. Me and Vaingalo enjoyed the quick pats we needed to do on the drums. We first practiced each part of the song using our hands to learn the beat and then we started to use the drums. Did you know that Djembe in African means “ brings joy ”. A big thank to John for coming and giving us an opportunity to experience drumming and for also donating 7 drums to our school.

LS2's Ballet Lesson

On Monday Ls2 had a Ballet Lesson with Chloe. Chloe flew up from Wellington and taught us a dance sequence from the Royal New Zealand Ballet's current show Black Swan White Swan which was based on Swan Lake. We first did a simple dance that evolved us to move only our feet up and down. We practiced flapping our hands like swans and then we stared to jump and flap our hands. Then Chloe taught us a dance. What we did first was we laid on the ground and then had one of our hands up in the air and form it into a swan head shape we then moved our leg up and down. Next she wanted us to have one leg and and have our hands wide open. We then standed up into a pose and moved in our groups we then presented a pose that we prepared when practicing. At the end we got to see some point shoes. We also got to ask some questions. I asked her what age was she when she first got her point shoes. A tip from chole was to commit to the movement to get the best effect. A big thank you to Mrs Jones for Organizing this special lesson and also a big thank you to Chloe for Teaching us this dance

Tech

This week was another session of Tech at Tamaki Collage. Today we were going to program our Mbot to move in a square shape. Before Programming we looked at two words we needed to know in robotics. We looked at Automation,Variable and Algorithms. Automation means A equipment that does something for you automatically. Automatically means something that is done by it self it is also know as a technology.Variable means a change of something it also means a factor or element that Liable to a vary change. In math this means a symbol or letter that represents a number. Next we stared to program. We used the app Make bot to program our Mbot. The blocks is used was Action. I needed to think about how long I needed my robot to spin to turn right. It took a lot of try's but I got there in the end. When then got to give out a reward to people who program first me and aung naig each got a chocolate bar for our achievement. At the end we headed to one of the computer and watched  a video showing the new Tesla car that is program to self drive.

Kiwi Can

This week for Kiwi Can we were talking about Motivation. Motivation means something that help you do well in something. We talked about why Motivation is important and what Motivation is. The first activity we played was called Head, Shoulders, Knees and Cone. For this Mrs Paige would say either Head, Shoulders, Knees and we would put our hand on that position but if she said cone we had to grab the cone in front of us and the first person who got it won. The next game that we played called ball rope. What we needed to do was catch a ball while we jump so the rope would hit our legs.

Walzting Matilda Summarising

This week we were looking behind the story of Waltzing Matilda. We also used our inferring skills  to paint a image as there were no images in the Poem. We then unpacked the language in the Poem for example swag man. A swag man is a seasonal worker. This is a summary made by me and Mele. For this we needed to write down 20 important words from the poem then we needed to choose 6 most important words and write a few sentences using the 6 words we choose. This is my image, I have featured a tree, billabong the sway man, music note, his bag , sun and the stream. The main idea about his poem was that it was trying to tell us how life was hard in Australia because not many people had jobs. We knew that this sway man was not that rich as his shade was a coblian tree and he got his water form the stream.

Student Led Conference

This week we had our Student Led Conference. Student Led Conference is a Conference led by student. This lets them show there parents or caregivers what they have achieved so far and the learning they have been doing for the past half a term.I came with my mom Sina. What I did first was I introduced her to my teacher Mrs Anderson. Then I went to show her around my class. We first looked at the agent of change. I told her that we created these to help set goals for the year. Then I showed her the rest of the class. We then went to the TV so I could show her my learning Journey. After show her my reading, writing, math and inquiry I showed her my blog and asked if she could leave a comment. My moms favorite part was my camp collage and my math partitioning.

Math Vocabulary

Today LS2 has been talking about Math Vocabulary. We did this to help strengthen our connections to math language. We first looked at exact same words which was Plane but each of these words had different meanings. One meant a transport and the other meant a flat surface in math language. This is a DLO that was created by Mrs Anderson.  Our task was to drag the Maths words under the right label. To do this we needed to communicate with each other. If we got stuck with one of the math words we were able to use the math dictionary which was located on the LS2 math site. The interesting part about this task was learning new math words I never knew.

Literary Devices

Link
This week we have been learning about Literary Devices. Since Mrs Anderson has been on a course she has given us a challenge that was given to her also which was to create a DLO only using google docs. The DLO needed to be about Literary devices. We needed to define the different literary device as well as include an image or example. This is my DLO. I used a table and then made the lines invisible so it looked like a normal DLO

Tech

Today we had our second session of robotics. Today we were learning how to program a Mbot. I kind of knew what to do as it was similar to Scratch. We first tried to program our robot to sing a song. We first talked about varietals.Variable are about a change of something today we were programming our Mbot to sing happy birthdays, There were different cartography and we used show as well as events. My favorite part about this was programming my Mbot to flash lights.

Gymnastic

Today we had our second session of Gymnastic. We first started with making our body flexible. We then went thought our activity. This is a DLO that we have created to compare our selves with a profession gymnastic. We compared our eye contact, our body shape and how our hands were postin. My favorite activity in Gymnastic was the trampoline we needed to do dive rolls. This was quiet easy for me as I already knew how to roll.
